True talent, along with originality, is rare these days. In an industry where “clones” and
“copycats” are succeeding, it’s hard to come across anyone who wants to test the
boundaries or take a chance on being original. Arturo Ramirez, aka Doza, is one of Houston’
s; Industry Outlaws’, who does just that, “goes against the grain”. Independent Record
Label owner, Rapper, Producer, Engineer, Writer, Composer, Graphic Designer, Manager,
and Booking Agent are just a few positions that are chalked up on the qualifications list of
Doza. After numerous attempts of demo submissions to major and independent labels
failed, Doza decided to create his own Record Label so that he could create, market, and
distribute his own music. The young entrepreneur put together a business plan designed
for success and launched what he says will be the next big independent record label in
Texas, South Nox, Inc. With a consistent on-the-road marketing approach, Doza has
accomplished more in the “biz” in the last 3 yrs than most have in 10. After making a catchy
club record entitled "She Wants a Bad Boy", which brings forth both elements of rap and
rock music, and promoting it on myspace, Doza caught the ear of BETs Director of the Year
nominee Dr. Teeth, and shot his first video for his debut album "Out of Tune", which is set to
release in late 2008 early ‘09. Doza is not the only artist on the South Nox record label. He
signed Houston rock artist, Ramiro Rodriguez, aka Sun of Sam. Together, they are known
as the 2addicts. They produce all of the music coming out of the South Nox Mad Camp.
“Sun of Sam is ½ of my entire operation and success”, says Doza. South Nox artists have
opened up for major recording artists such as: Chamillionaire, Paul Wall, Lil' Flip, Korn,
Deftones, Staind, 3-6 Mafia, Mike Jones, Sean Kingston, UGK, Trae, and many more. Doza,
along with his label-mate Sun of Sam, have been making noise in Texas for a while and
are now rockin crowds outside the state. From food stamps and hand-me-down clothes to
becoming one of the fastest rising underground artists in Texas, Doza has come a long
way. “We’ve made this much noise on our own, wait until we go Major!” -Doza
